GAME OF THE DAY
When one of Marvin the Martian’s fancy machines goes kablooey following a battle with Bugs Bunny, chaos is unleased. Now everyone’s favorite sarcastic rabbit must save the day…and his friends.
In Looney Tunes World of Mayhem, assemble up to four characters to fight in turn-based battles. For solo fun, try a campaign mode that challenges you to repel Marvin’s invasion in a forest, outer space, and other areas. When you’re ready to face fellow players online, jump into a competitive mode, which pits your squad against an opponent’s with the goal of stealing their loot.
The playable characters, representing an assortment of Looney Tunes favorites, spout all of their best catchphrases (“What’s up, Doc?”) and boast unique special abilities. There’s Foghorn, a defensive character whose “taunt” ability draws enemy fire. Fishercat Sylvester Jr., on the other hand, can heal the rest of your team midbattle. And Bugs Bunny’s devastating safe-drop attack makes him perfect for offense.
You can also build your own Toontown by restoring Elmer Fudd’s cabin and other heroes’ homes. These dwellings let you unlock items needed to upgrade skills that’ll give you a leg (or paw) up in battle.
Fortunately, the mayhem never feels overwhelming. A tab of daily goals and quests prompts what to do next. And if you’re itching to get to the next battle, op to speed up the pace—or just sit back while the game automatically fights for you.
There are so many faithful details: the them music’s blaring horns, Marvin’s froglike voice, Bugs breaking the fourth wall. Plus, of course, falling anvils that clonk characters on the head.
