Leading mobile games company Scopely, together with ViacomCBS Consumer Products, today announced an unprecedented partnership gathering for the first time every Star Trek™ timeline under one experience in the award-winning mobile game Star Trek™ Fleet Command.
Star Trek™ Fleet Command will be the only mobile game to feature the complete Star Trek Universe - from the long-running triumphs of Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek to the popular CBS All Access series' Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Picard. The infusion of new content adds a robust slate of storylines, characters, ships, and more to be integrated into the top-grossing MMO/strategy game, which, until now, has exclusively featured the “Kelvin Timeline” and characters from the 2009, 2013 and 2016 cinematic Star Trek Universe.
“With over 50 years of content to draw from, this expanded partnership with ViacomCBS Consumer Products marks the first time all of these iconic Star Trek stories, characters, and universes will find a home in one immersive experience,” said Steve Huff, Senior Vice President of Product at Scopely. “We’re honored to be deepening our collaboration with ViacomCBS Consumer Products and contributing to the legacy of Star Trek through our shared mission of delivering an exceptional experience to fans all over the world, for many years to come.”
In less than two years since launching in November 2018, Star Trek™ Fleet Command has attracted a highly engaged community of fans through its deeply immersive and collaborative gameplay, with players spending multiple hours in-game each day, and 75% of players playing seven days per week. The game consistently places in the top rankings for its genre, most recently landing the #1 spot in AppAnnie’s ranking of the most-engaging strategy and RPG titles by US-based publishers. More than 5.8 billion battles have been played to date, with a 20% increase in battles played in the last year.
"Star Trek is a multi-generational franchise that continues to generate new iterations to meet the needs of its ever-growing loyal and passionate fan base," said Pam Kaufman, President, Global Consumer Products, ViacomCBS. “With this first-of-its-kind partnership, we are able to harness the combined power of the beloved brand to give gamers a unique opportunity to create their own new adventures utilizing an exciting title from an exceptional partner like Scopely."
True to Scopely’s directed-by-consumer approach that gives each player control over their experience, Star Trek™ Fleet Command players are the commanders of their own destiny: from crew selection to the missions they take on and the alliances they form, choices made in-game will impact how new storylines intersect as new content begins to roll out over the coming months.
The game expansion and extended partnership maintains Scopely’s tremendous momentum built over the past year. In addition to successfully launching a new title with Scrabble® GO, the company has seen consistent growth across long-term games such as its Dice franchise, which includes YAHTZEE® With Buddies, surpassing $500M in lifetime revenue; the acquisitions of PierPlay game studio as well as FoxNext Games and its highly successful game MARVEL Strike Force; a $400M Series D financing round aimed for new investments; and continued focus developing new game experiences. The company’s ability to deliver and scale such a range of products is driven by its proprietary technology and infrastructure, producing a highly diverse portfolio across multiple genres.
Star Trek™ Fleet Command is created and published by Scopely and DIGIT, a Scopely Studio, and is available as a free download on iOS via the App Store and on Android via Google Play.
