Scopely taps Mike DeLaet as

Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships

Veteran games executive most recently Founded and led Rogue Games

Leading mobile games company Scopely has hired Mike DeLaet as Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships to oversee developer partnerships, platform relationships, licensing, and business development for the rapidly expanding company. A longtime games executive, Mike has launched over 250 games throughout his 15+ year career in the industry, most recently leading Rogue Games.

“As we continue to scale as a business, we have been looking for an experienced leader to further expand and take our developer, IP, and platform partnerships to the next level,” said Tim O’Brien, Chief Revenue Officer at Scopely. “Mike brings tremendous expertise, deep knowledge in mobile games, and an entrepreneurial mindset that is the perfect combination for Scopely. We are thrilled he chose to join us on the Scopely adventure.”

Mike added, “It’s an incredibly exciting time to join Scopely. The company has big ambitions with high caliber new projects in the pipeline, and their ability to grow and sustain franchises that have been around for years is equally impressive. I’ve also admired their approach to development partnerships and am excited to help scale their studio ecosystem even further.”

Scopely is known for its unique approach to development partnerships -- where traditional boundaries between developer and publisher are eliminated. Operating as a single team, Scopely builds each game with both internal Scopely Studios, such as DIGIT, FoxNext Games, and PierPlay, or external Partner Studios from a world-class studio ecosystem of gamemakers. Through this model, Scopely is able to partner with the best talent across genres to create and operate a diverse slate of successful franchises. While Scopely’s studio ecosystem already spans seven countries, Mike will continue to advance the company’s relationships and partnerships -- identifying top talent with specialized skills from across the globe.

Before joining Scopely, Mike Founded and served as CEO of Rogue Games, a Los Angeles-based game publisher. During his three years with Rogue, Mike drove many significant deals including development partnerships for 50+ games and important platform advancements with both Apple and Google Play; raised over $3M+ in strategic financing; and grew the business 10x since its founding. Prior to Rogue, Mike served as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Business Development & Licensing at Kabam where he launched multiple top-grossing franchises including Marvel Contest of Champions, The Hobbit, Kingdoms of Camelot and Heroes of Camelot, and was a significant contributor in the sale of both the Los Angeles studio to FOX (becoming FoxNext) and the company to Netmarble for $800M. Prior to Kabam, Mike served as Senior Vice President of Global Publishing at Glu Mobile where he helped significantly increase the company’s market cap by 10x. Before Glu, Mike held various positions at Sprint Corporation where he worked with a range of partners including EA, Disney, Ubisoft, and Sony, among others. Mike is an active advisor to many technology companies across fintech, social and games; he has been awarded 10+ patents with 6 pending in areas of gaming and mobile technology; and holds a B.S. in Management from Baker University and an M.B.A. in Technology Management from University of Phoenix.

Mike’s appointment comes on the heels of a year of significant growth for Scopely. In addition to successfully launching a new title with Scrabble® GO, the company has seen consistent growth across long-term games such as its Dice franchise, which includes YAHTZEE® With Buddies, surpassing $500M in lifetime revenue; the acquisitions of PierPlay game studio as well as FoxNext Games and its highly successful game MARVEL Strike Force; a $400M Series D financing round aimed for new investments; and continued focus developing new game experiences. The company’s ability to deliver and scale such a range of products is driven by its proprietary technology and infrastructure, producing a highly diverse portfolio across multiple genres.
